Announced 

In 2021, the Public Investment Fund announced THE RIG. Project, the world’s first adventure tourism destination on an offshore platform inspired by the design of offshore oil platforms.

Oil Park Development Company (OPDC) was established to lead the development of THE RIG., in line with the PIF Strategy 2021-2025, to diversify and enrich the Kingdom’s tourism and entertainment experiences, increase tourism and entertainment investment, and diversify the economy. THE RIG. will contribute to solidifying the Kingdom’s position as a leading tourist destination known for its unique proposition, in addition to providing employment opportunities that can improve the quality of life in the Eastern Region. The Project’s commitment to the protection of the environment is at the top of the priority list, and THE RIG. is being developed in line with the highest international standards.

THE RIG. spans an area of more than 300,000 sqms, located 40 km from the coastline near Juraid Island and Berri Oil Field in the Arabian Gulf. It will include many touristic attractions including three hotels, 11 restaurants, an array of retail shops, on top of thrilling activities and daring adventures above and below the sea.
