Mohammed bin Salman Project for Developing Historic Mosques

The Mohammed bin Salman Project for the Development of Historical Mosques is honoring the beauty and rich history of Saudi Arabia's Islamic heritage, preserving and restoring 130 of the Kingdom's most treasured mosques.

Launched in 2018 by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, the Project is dedicated to preserving the Kingdom's mosques and sharing Saudi Arabia's rich culture, history, and heritage with the world.

In the first phase of the Project, a team of experts and restoration specialists carefully restored 30 of the Kingdom's most treasured mosques, paying close attention to each building’s unique character and cultural significance. This first phase not only restored these beautiful and meaningful places of worship, but it also established a valuable blueprint for future construction of mosques to follow authentic architectural designs as development of mosques across the Kingdom continues.

By restoring the Saudi Arabia's most treasured mosques, the Kingdom is working to enrich pilgrims' spiritual journeys and cultural experiences while in the Kingdom.
