The Makkah Route Initiative provides pilgrims with the highest level of efficiency and comfort in their pilgrimage journey by enabling them to complete their entry procedures to Saudi Arabia in their home countries’ airports, and providing direct transfer to accommodation in Makkah and Madinah.

Established in 2018 and officially activated in 2019, the Makkah Route Initiative is a revolutionary program aimed at enhancing the pilgrimage experience for worshipers from Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Morocco, Bangladesh, Türkiye, and the Ivory Coast. The efficiency pilgrims experience during their visit to the Kingdom will enable them to be fully committed to performing one of their holiest duties.

Upon arrival in Saudi Arabia, pilgrims and their luggage are directly transported to their accommodation in Makkah and Madinah, avoiding long lines and wait times at the airport. Pilgrims arriving under this Initiative are spending only a few minutes at the Saudi immigration counters.

The Saudi government is committed to easing pilgrims’ travel at every step of their journey, and the Makkah Route Initiative is a key component of this effort. A number of government agencies, including the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Health, are working together to provide a seamless and smooth experience for Makkah Route participants.
